About: La Enfermera Dulce

La Enfermera Dulce provides evidence-based, culturally fluent diabetes education for diverse communities.

Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSMES) is proven to reduce A1C, prevent complications, and lower healthcare costs—yet most people, especially Spanish-speaking patients, never receive it.

Our Cycle of Health framework is aligned with national DSMES standards and delivered in both English and Central Mexican Spanish by an experienced nurse educator.

We’re seeking partnerships with health systems, community organizations, and insurance plans to close gaps in patient education—improving outcomes, building health literacy, and reaching underserved populations at scale.

The problem we solve:

Diabetes has become one of the most urgent health crises of our time. Nearly 590 million adults worldwide live with diabetes—1 in 9—and that number is expected to reach 850 million by 2050.

Yet despite this epidemic, fewer than 5% of people with diabetes ever receive formal diabetes education.

The gap is even wider for Spanish-speaking and underserved communities, who face higher rates of diabetes and worse outcomes but have the least access to culturally fluent education.

Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSMES) is proven to reduce A1C, prevent complications, and lower costs—but millions never get it.

We’re changing that by making quality, bilingual diabetes education accessible at scale.

Our Solution: The Cycle of Health

What we’re building:

We’re in our prototype phase, developing a comprehensive bilingual diabetes education academy built on the Cycle of Health framework.

Our current materials—an introductory book, paired video series, and this website—represent our nurse-led, DSMES-aligned approach to culturally fluent education.

We’re seeking partnerships and funding to scale this into a full learning platform that health systems, community organizations, and insurance plans can license for their patients.

The framework is sound, the need is urgent, and early partners have the opportunity to shape how quality diabetes education reaches underserved populations at scale.

Ways to partner with us:

  • Book a talk/workshop
  • License content for patient education programs
  • Explore partnerships (health systems, insurance plans, community organizations)
  • Support our mission (funding/investors)
